Close up of couple smilingValentine?s day is getting closer everyone. If you are one of the lucky and prepared couples, you?ve already scheduled a sitter for a date and made the necessary preparations for an awesome outing. ?Whether it is a Valentine?s Day date, regular date night or watching a movie at home ?quality time with your spouse is obviously important; especially because we all know that as?normal married couples we have our good times and hopefully only a few bad times. So to ensure that our (sometimes few) scheduled quality times or dates are happy moments, I and my husband have found it helpful to have a relationship talk periodically.

?{Have you ever been so excited to finally have a date night and you and your spouse end up arguing discussing a?negative topic?? ?SO NOT FUN}

Relationship talks?can really help to prevent the BIG blow ups that happen when emotions or negative issues are not discussed. ?These talks?also provide a safe outlet for you and your spouse to discuss the good and the not so good. ?Not to mention, relationship reviews or evaluations can prevent arguments from ruining a fun date night.

During a relationship talk, ask simple, broad, open ended questions to get started and also ask questions that are specific to your relationship. Having open communication is extremely important to having a happy marriage.

Here are some sample questions for both you and your spouse to answer:Couple

  1. What are the positives in our relationship?
  2. What are the negatives in our relationship?
  3. How can we communicate better?
  4. What do you like about our communication lately?
  5. What do you need from me?
  6. How can I make life easier for you?
  7. What do you want me to lift up in prayer for you?
  8. What changes would you make about yourself?
  9. How is our love life and quality time? ?Is there anything that you would change or add to it?
  10. What are some future goals for our relationship?
  11. How am I doing in other relationships (i.e. Do you think I am being a good Christian, mother, daughter or friend)?
  12. How do you feel about my listening?
  13. How well am I handling money?
  14. Is there something you would like me to change?
  15. Have we made progress since our last relationship talk?

?

Ask questions about decision making, communication, house duties, money, spirituality, other relationships, quality time, closeness, and your friendship {If you and spouse are not best friends, make that a goal}.? Then use the results and answers as a baseline to compare with future results from the same questionnaire at your next ?relationship talk.?? Remember, keeping communication open? makes it easier to enjoy each other!

I pray that you have a wonderful HAPPY Valentine?s Day!!
